The BFA needs US$200,000 to buy new vehicles to continue EMS education, training and rescue work in Thailand. Secondly, we need a sponsor to provide running costs of (US$1600) to do this in order to run them 24 hours/7 days a week.

Marko Cunningham has been in the Thai Rescue Service for over 10 years. More recently Shane Palmer, a St John’s Ambulance officer in New Zealand, has taken over the administration of the organization, leaving Marko to run the day to day operations in Thailand. As of 10th April, 2010 we have become an officially registered charity(in NZ) and are now therefore eligible to offer tax deductions for your contributions. Official Registration Number is CC44140.

In the last 10 years Marko Cunningham has helped donate food and clothing to over 10,000 people, taught First Aid and CPR to over 7,000 people, helped over 6,000 accident victims, taken care of over 2,000 dead bodies and much more. Through his own generosity Marko has been paying for an ambulance since 2004. However due to lack of finance this could not be continued; The BFA has not been able to provide an ambulance for the last 6 months.

This year the newly registered BFA plans to open a new English speaking ambulance service in the central Bangkok area and also to run an EMS/CPR/CCR education program for volunteers and the rural poor. BFA has many more programs and ideas for the future too and is only limited by the funds it may receive. There are presently around 90,000 volunteers in Thailand waiting to be trained in CPR alone. This will be one of our major initial projects, to not only teach CPR but to register volunteers as trainers to train others in their area.

The BFA initially needs a new ambulance and equipment to continue its work of helping the injured, teaching, training and helping the poor and needy of Thailand. If you or your company are able to sponsor the BFA in any way then please contact us ASAP! We are really in desperate need of your help!

Please help us to help others less fortunate: Helping the poor and empowering locals to take care of themselves and their future.

    Hi Marko,
I have just read your book and I it was a fantastic read. From Chapter one I was absloutely hooked.
I too, could relate to your passion for Asia and like you I grew up in Wellington. Your book stirred so many emotions for me and I loved it!!

“Hey Marko, Congrats on the book! Can I buy a signed copy? I will be in Bangkok Oct 24 and I’m staying until next April.”

  • Richard Almand:

    Hey Mark,

Imagine my surprise driving to the veggie market on Saturday morning listening to Kim Hill and she end up talking to you – I damn near drove off the road myself. Was really great to hear you an you came across really well (as long as that is all you came across with Kim Hill nudge nudge wink wink – quick way to raise money)

Sounds like you are doing really well over there, and leading a life full of adventure. By comparison mine is pretty routine, well in saying that I did did score 2 broccolis for $2.50 at the market and I did have a puncture on my bike in the weekend – just a little slow bugger on the other side from the valve and it was hard to find, see the adrenaline doesn’t stop here either.
Anyway mate take care – stay off the amphetamines and out of burning buildings. Use your celebrity to bed as many wenches as possible but don’t let their husbands catch you.

Ps. Not sure if I will by your book or wait for the movie ;-)
Pps. Is there an action figure and merchandise range to follow – imagine that a Marko figure with your happy meal.

BRO. did TVNZ end up filming you at work???? So you have Potter and I in your book?? Robyn has given me the book to read. But hey I not the best reader that there is, so when the film starts to be made then maybe you could have Cliff Curtis playing me, or better still Denzal Washington. I think he will do. Did you write that all when you were back here?? very busy man.

Got to go and do another iv.
Stay out of trouble. and take care of yourself bro.

  • Debbie:

Well it had to happen, I got my first death threat today, I guess it had to happen when you openly criticize and disclose corrupt activities of the police, army, government and gangsters. I guess I covered all my bases on that one! lol
